2010 Gaon Chart (Korean Music Chart)

[How to read the chart :)]

1st column = ranking

2nd column = Album

3rd column = Artist

4th column = Record Label

5th column = Number of records sold

.

So, here’s the number of albums JYJ sold in Korea in 2010:

The Beginning (99,903) + The Beginning, Limited Edition (98,311) + The Beginning, Luxury Edition(92,649)

= 290,863 total sold for “The Beginning” Album

+

76,951 albums for” SGK Scandal”!

(It is really rare for a drama soundtrack album to sell that much! >.<)

.

So the boys are actually third in rank for their “The Beginning” album, right behind SNSD’s Oh!/Run Devil Run (197,934 + 136,851 = 334,785) and SJ’s “Bonamana” (200,193 + 99,355 = 299,548)

.

This is quite incredible since 1) the album is entirely in English and 2) the boys had ABSOLUTELY NO promotional appearances on TV OR Radio! In fact, their songs from “the Beginning” were NEVER played on national TV or radio. (urgh. curse you SM)

.

All I can say is, GO JYJ!!!

We’re still strong and no obstacle from any corrupt individuals is going to stop us!

Popular music group JYJ’s Music Essay,『THEIR ROOMS our story』, was ranked #1 in the Comprehensive Bestseller List immediately following its release. JYJ’s Music Essay had gathered great attention since its online pre-sales and, thanks to the popularity of the boy idol group, jumped ahead of Professor Kim Nando’s “It’s Youth Because it Hurts” to become the #1 bestseller. According to the sale charts, 95% of the readers were women, and was popular amongst (from most popular to least) women in their twenties, thirties, and forties. The Essay contains not only songs written by members of JYJ, but also essays that were personally written by the three members and a photo diary which holds their everyday lives. It seems like the Essay will become a treasured New Years gift for JYJ fans.

The following shows how the entire Bestseller List moved down a rank due to the release of JYJ’s Music Essay. (omit)
