Jaejoong recently tweeted “JYJ” and changed his profile description. :)

What does the phrase “Keep the Faith” represent?

From Jaejoong’s interview with Elle (translated here)

When asked about his tattoos, Jaejoong said, “I have converted into writing and engraved on my body things that I don’t want to forget from my life so far, things that have comforted me, and things that I am thankful for. The one in the front is ‘Always keep the faith.’  It means to always keep faith and gratitude.”

From a previous post (seen here)

Where did the phrase “JYJ from DBSK” come from?

“JYJ from DBSK” is a phrase which has been widely used by major Korean fansites (Ikadong, DNBN) since the events of December, 2010 and January, 2011, to combat SM’s claim that DBSK now consists only of two  members.

(Note: Before the events of December 2010 and January 2011, both DNBN and Ikadong were sites which supported all five members, aka DBSK)

Here’s a background on the phrase, “JYJ from DBSK”:

From Ikadong’s notice posted early January, 2011

Last December, when the two members announced their plans to hold activities as DBSK, Ikadong closed most of its menu and put up a notice to think about the cafe’s identity…. However, when the two members came out with a song which seemed to attack the three members, we felt emotions that can’t be described in words, and because the two members used the name DBSK and thus failed to show consideration for fans, we will also stop representing ourselves as the two member’s fandom.

Therefore, we wanted to notify [our cafe members] that we will delete the two member’s names and will switch to become the three [JYJ] member’s fansite. Furthermore, because the three members are also DBSK have the RIGHT to use the name, we have decided to not remove the name DBSK [from the fansite] to express the fans’ recognition of this right. For example, the general idea will be JYJ from DBSK or JYJ in DBSK.

A similar notice was posted in DNBN.

From DNBN’s notice:

DNBN cannot recognize the current two-member format as being DBSK, and thus will stop support of U-know Yunho and Max Changmin’s two-member DBSK for an indefinite period until the conflict is resolved.

[Omitted]

1.     …We have concluded that because Jaejoong, Yuchun, and Junsu have equal rights to the name “DBSK” as Yunho and Changmin, the two-member DBSK, formed without consent from the three members, is an infringement of Jaejoong, Yuchun, and Junsu’s rights.

2.     Such actions by SM, Yunho, and Changmin is an action which most definitely contradicts the good deeds done by DNBN’s staff and fans and their original word on the definition of DBSK (that it is a group made up of five members, Yunho, Jaejoong, Yuchun, Junsu, and Changmin). Therefore, according to the principle that you cannot give contradictory statements to claims made previously, we demand that they assume responsibility for their actions.

[Omitted]

Because of such listed reasons, we forbid any posts about U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin as 2-member DBSK on all discussion boards of this site.

Following such a notice, DNBN has also been referring to JYJ as JYJ from DBSK.

*****

As you can see, the phrase “JYJ from DBSK” was formed by Korean DBSK fans to fight for JYJs rights to the name and to express disapproval of SMs claims that DBSK is formed only by members Yunho and Changmin.

I am not saying this is what Jaejoong had in mind when he changed his profile information. However, because Jaejoong has been known to frequent Korean fansites from time to time, I can only assume that Jaejoong most likely is aware of what this phrase represents.
