JYJ’s official position “exclusion from Oricon… it’s a pity that JYJ is being used only to generate revenue”

Published 2011-03-09 12:41

JYJ (Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu, Park Yuchun)’s recent DVD and album has been excluded from Japan’s Oricon Chart.

In a notice on the 7th, Oricon announced “we are excluding JYJ’s ‘Memories in 2010’ DVD and ‘Thanksgiving in Dome Live CD’, released on the 2nd, from our ranking.”

The reason is that AVEX, who has the right to JYJ’s albums and DVDs, has canceled its contract with JYJ.

A JYJ representative expressed regret over the current situation in a phone conversation with NewsEn on March 9th. The rep revealed their official position, stating “Even after canceling JYJ’s contract, AVEX is using then to generate more profit. It is necessary that such a business structure be fixed.”

Furthermore, he stated “we are sorry for all the fans who were hurt and disappointed by the recent situation. We will do our best to amicably solve the situation.”

Meanwhile, AVEX in reality kicked JYJ out last October and promised U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin their full support.

JYJ Rep “Exclusion from Japan’s Oricon chart is unfair treatment”

Published 2011-03-09 10:42

While fans are expressing their dissatisfaction with JYJ’s albums being unreported in Japan’s Oricon Chart, an agency rep revealed his position that this was “unfair treatment.”

During an interview with Star News at 9am, a JYJ rep stated “the fact that AVEX is blocking JYJ’s Japanese activities while asserting their right to sell JYJ’s albums makes no sense.”

Furthermore, he expressed his sadness by stating, “It really saddens me that Japanese JYJ fans, who have been waiting for JYJ, are getting hurt again and again. AVEX had no discussion with the artists [JYJ] about the release of the album. I hope this becomes rectified as soon as possible.”

In a recent notice, Japan’s most prestigious music records ranking site, Oricon Chart, stated “we have decided to exclude JYJ’s ‘Memories in 2010’ and ‘THANKSGIVING IN DOME LIVE CD’ from the chart.”

According to Oricon, they have made such a decision because AVEX, the publisher for the two albums, had canceled its contract to manage JYJ’s activities.

They claim that since the hiatus on JYJ’s Japanese activities, AVEX has been reviewing the release of JYJ’s albums under the condition that the albums cannot be advertised or promoted, and decided to release the album for the vitalization of the music market. However, Oricon explains that they have decided to exclude the albums from their count [because doing so would be promoting/advertising their album].

Meanwhile, AVEX announced September of last year that they are stopping JYJ’s activities in Japan.

At the time, AVEX revealed “with DBSK’s three members’ conflict with SM ENT over their contract, we believe the contract between them and the people directly involved are invalid. We are stopping our support of the three members’ Japanese activities.
