As time passes by, more people are criticizing DBSK’s appearance on <Knee-drop-guru>. MBC’s overall crisis has also reached the entertainment section, and MBC has been unable to shake off its anxious appearance. How will <Knee-drop-guru>, a program which continues to incite controversy by maximizing bias, collapse?

<Knee-drop-guru> has become biased, is it suffering from arthritis?

Many assess that after 4 years of running, <Knee-drop-guru>, which gained the ultimate popularity with Kang HoDong’s vigor, is nearing its end. Although there were very wonderful episodes, <Knee-drop-guru> is currently facing a crisis its limits with frequent repetitions of episodes that aren’t just unfortunate, but annoying.

Sick of <Knee-drop-guru> cleaning up celebrities’ mess

It’s become a common practice for celebrities with past problems to use show programs to create well-publicized issues when they are about to begin their new activities. <Knee-drop-guru> can only be a program that celebrities prefer the most. They appear alone, talk about the things that they want, and the program transforms their conversations into heart-warming stories, allowing them to receive the public’s sympathy vote.

They say that they talk about things in a strong way, but they never air about things that no one knows about, and a program riddled with conversation of a reasonable standard about a curious topic that everyone knows about might be interesting once or twice, but there is a clear limit to continue such a program for a long time.

For celebrities, <Knee-drop-guru> may just be a place that they relieve their worries. It might be very fulfilling for themselves, but for others it leaves a very bad smell and make them feel uncomfortable. A place that allows people to talk about their worries does give a fair chance, but if you consider that such a place isn’t a place than everyone can be happy together, but a secret place for one person to feel satisfaction, this program has a nasty habit of publically making people watch a celebrity feeling satisfied by his/herself.

A writer from not <Knee-drop-guru>, but <Radio Star>, a program within the same category, has also caused a big controversy with her messages on twitter. People could only feel outraged by her explicit criticism of JYJ and harsh verbal abuse.

No one believes that Twitter is a place where your personal privacy is respected. With a writer who wrote obvious praise toward SM in a place where everyone can see, many could only doubt the program’s ability to remain neutral. Such an atmosphere could only have an effect on <Knee-drop-guru>’s bias or make people consider the program to be on the same level.

With touching emotions and even entertainment value lost from the program, it seems difficult that we will be able to be touched in the way Ahn Chulsu’s episode did. DBSK, who appeared in such a situation, ended up only adding fuel to the growing controversy. Their reason for appearing in the program is vague, and the things they said in <Knee-drop-guru> was neither special nor interesting, but only caused uneasiness for its viewers.

By delivering SM’s opinions in a one sided fashion, the program created lots of controversies by causing misunderstandings amongst people who knew nothing about the facts of the situation. The main part which could only incite controversy were the parts of the program when they referred to JYJ. All their opinions on JYJ were statements representing SM’s point of view.

Stating that JYJ forced a very successful DBSK into despair and betrayed members, that they’ve shared joys and sorrows with, for their selfish greed can only be a one-sided opinion. With JYJ being plainly blocked in their activities, it is not proper to show only one side’s opinions as if it was fair.

Although Kang HoDong emphasized that such opinions were the two members’ own individual opinions, a program which portrayed the two members as victims and JYJ as the worst by condemning SM, a progressive company, as being shameless, can only be problematic. Although the courts ruled that JYJ is lawful and ordered SM to pay 20 million KRW for each time they interfere with JYJ’s activities, large management companies seem to think that they are above the law and controlling even broadcasting networks.

<Knee-drop-guru>, which has been wasting precious air time by cleaning up celebrities messes, need to find ways to fundamentally change the programs and rethink about the purpose of their program. We cannot know if the program will head to its doom or use this as a chance to reinvent itself, but I am curious whether <Knee-drop-guru>, a program that can’t seem to escape controversy, will be able to reclaim its past ability to move and entertain audiences at the same time.

Will <Knee-drop-guru> be able to end the controversies about its biased nature by casting JYJ as many have requested? In reality, it is very unlikely that they will make such a choice. Even if the program is forced to end, they will most likely not choose JYJ. A program which consistently acts to damage its own status can only be considered as loosing its hold on life.

Will the <Knee-drop-guru> ever escape from controversies about its bias and the belief that it’s a program which one-sidedly forgives problematic celebrities? Will we ever able to meet a <Knee-drop-guru> both moving and entertaining its audiences again?

Male group JYJ expressed their thanks at the opening of the Internet Broadcast which the fans made exclusive for their sake.

JYJ fans opened the JYJ-exclusive internet broadcast on March 3rd, 8pm KST. Currently, it has gotten such heated response that the number of fans who attempted to access the site paralyzed its servers.

Of course, the JYJ internet broadcast is made by the fans and is not the official website of JYJ. But a person related to JYJ had a phone conversation with Star News (this newspaper) and said: “We understand that the station was made by the financial contributions by the fans. JYJ is aware of this. They are currently feeling thankful for the love of their fans.

The person followed, “if we acknowledge ILoveJYJ, the exclusive-to-JYJ internet broadcast, as official, it may lose its purity. Because it is a website created by the love of the fans, we hope that it will operated with such purity.”

Exposure of the backwardness of the Korean entertainment business to the international community

▲ The constant blocking and curtailing of JYJ’s activities is only exposing to the international community and international consumers of the Korean Wave the state of underdevelopment of the Korean entertainment business and broadcasting structure. The photograph above shows many of these fans and consumers at JYJ’s New York showcase waiting in excitement.

In October of last year, the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Arts Industry (KFPCAI) stated in an official letter sent to all national mainstream and cable TV stations, “The broadcasting of JYJ will have a negative effect on the Korean Wave as well as the image of its cultural contents industry and the Korean nation behind the Korean Wave,” and that “it will lead to the regression of pop culture and the Korean Wave,” thus urging all recipients to ban the appearance of the group. Yet, four months after that incident, this past February, JYJ’s foreign fans warned, “We the international consumers of the Korean Wave reiterate our unwavering support for JYJ and urge their nation to secure justice for her own citizens or else risk forever marring her cultural products with the stigma of human rights violations.”

That day was the day after cable channel QTV had publicised its decision to cancel JYJ’s reality programme ‘JYJ’s Real24’, which detailed the members’ daily lives, and two days after some 86,000 foreign fans of JYJ submitted a petition to the Fair Trade Commission and the Seoul Central District Court.

JYJ’s foreign fans declared, “QTV’s behavior is unprofessional, irresponsible and unacceptably disrespectful to its viewers and the laws of its own country”, unable to hide their regret and disappointment at the situation. They also noted, “QTV announced that it had cancelled JYJ’s reality show, JYJ’s Real24, after creating significant reliance interests for viewers by advertising through multiple channels that it would air the show within February” and that “such acts represent contempt for JYJ’s entertainment activity rights, which have been twice affirmed by the court.”

On February 28th, JYJ’s foreign fans submitted a petition to the Seoul Central District Court and the Fair Trade Commission, urging for the recognition and protection of JYJ’s legal and human rights. Signatures were collected from February 2nd to February 25th through a site set up in 10 different languages, asking for a timely ruling recognising JYJ’s rights and guaranteeing their media activities.

[Foreign fans] commented on the negative events closing in on JYJ and their practical hardships, “As consumers of the Korean Wave, we would like to express our disappointment in these violations of JYJ’s legal and human rights which have had a negative impact on our understanding of Korea and our appreciation of her cultural products.” It is clear that all this is communicating/exposing to the international community and the consumers of the Korean Wave the backwardness and close-mindedness of the Korean entertainment business and broadcast system; it is enough to make one blush [with shame].

It makes one wonder how absurd is that state of Korea’s entertainment industry that foreign fans are accusing its current state with words such as “the Republic of Korea must take action against such unashamed disregard for her laws.” This is clear evidence that, on the contrary, it is those who are standing against JYJ who are staining the reputation of the Korean Wave.

The public now demands of them.

Who is the real culprit disgracing the Korean Wave!

Lawyer Park ChanJong, with regards to cable channel QTV’s  exemption of  ’JYJ Reality Program’ from the program listing had expressed that, “The opponent management agency (SM Entertainment) is kind of strong that’s why the broadcasting company seems to have backed out.” and “After having observe a little more about the situation, we’ll decide whether or not to take legal actions.”

“KCC (Korea Communication Commission) has the obligation to rectify unfair practices”
Lawyer Park, through an interview with NewDaily on the 3rd, has asserted that, “Although the current lawsuit is still on-going, one can tell from a common-sense point of view that one month ago the program that was still under previewing was exclaimed to be unsuitable for broadcasting with reasons that don’t make sense could be the result of external pressure.” and “With regards to this situation, KCC has to take measures to rectify this issue through  impartial investigation and supporting with rightful evidence that can be accepted.”

Lawyer Park said, “With regards to the issue that there has been obvious unfair practices that has taken place,
I shall await the rightful action to be taken by KCC and, if within this week there has been no such action taken, I’d consider to take legal actions.”

Lawyer Park stressed that, “Because it is a government instituation, it is a place that is obligated to rectify any unfair practices, if they cannot fulfill an obligated responsibility like this, eventually, common people like us have to stand out.” and “the priority issue is to investigate if this particular broadcast company has been under any kind of external pressure or instructions.”

Initially, from February onwards, QTV was supposed to broadcast “JYJ’s Real24″ which consist of in-dept of JYJ’s everyday life and their recent situation . QTV has, for the period of the past month, been premiering widely about the broadcast of “JYJ’s Real24″ through teasers and twitter.

However, even when February is coming to an end, “JYJ’s Real 24″ was not being broadcasted and towards reports who have been questioning about the broadcast, QTX explained, “There are still issues about the broadcasting copyrights that has yet to be resolved.” and “Inevitably, it has passed the date to be broadcasted but, there’s no reason that the broadcast will be cancelled.”

CJes Entertainment “We received the impossibility of broadcasting from QTV”
But on the 1st, JYJ’s management company CJeS said,” JYJ’s Real24″ was initially scheduled to be broadcasted from February but today we received from QTV saying it is impossible to broadcast the program.” and ”what QTV has filmed will be passed on to CJeS Entertainment and we will try our best to show the contents that have been filmed at the fastest possible date to the fans.” This has disappointed fans who have anticipated so much of the program.

As the controversy gets bigger, QTV exclaimed, “‘JYJ’s Real24′ that was originally scheduled to be broadcasted during February was unable to be broadcasted due to circumstance of the broadcast center.” and “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused due to the incorrect information about the broadcast.”

Talks around some of JYJ fans who have been concerned about this issue reasoned, “It could be explained that QTV who was so certain that there will be no cancellation of the program had a 180 degrees change of attitude was because there has been an external pressure that caused this program to be withdrawn.”

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment and QTV who has been pestered by JYJ fans about sayings of external pressure commented about the omission of the broadcast saying, “There wasn’t any external pressure or restriction at all.”

On the 3rd, CJeS Entertainment said through NewDaily, “Many fans have been waiting for the broadcast of this show. We truely felt that it’s such a pity that the program was said to be unable to be broadcasted.” and “however, at the beginning the with a favourable intention that QTV had decided to broadcast ‘JYJ’s Real 24′, it is of no use now that we confont or do we have intention to investigate who is to blame but to try out best to show what has been filmed to the fans soonest possible.”

Murupak-무릎팍도사- (MBC)
TVXQ: “We did not know about their[JYJ] lawsuit.” Is this true?
03 MAR, 2011 / Moneytoday [Reports Ye Hyun Kim]

TVXQ(Yunho, Changmin) explained their hurt feelings about JYJ (Jaejoong/Yuchun/Junsu)’s lawsuit at MBC TV ‘Murupak-무릎팍도사’ which was aired on March 2, 2011. But their comments on the lawsuit became a controversy among the netizens soon after the program.

Yunho and Changmin said that “We did not know about their [JYJ’s] lawsuit when they submitted an application for provisional injunction against the company[SM].”
“It could have worked our for the better, but we’re sorry [about the three] that we could not continue our activities as the five-member TVXQ due to JYJ’s extreme choice [lawsuit],” on this program.

They insisted that they did not know about the provisional injunction to terminate the validity of the exclusive contract, but fans of JYJ and people who are interested in TVXQ have produced contrary evidences against this.

The presented evidences are 1) an article in Japanese newspaper,
2) interview with JYJ’s judicial representative
and 3) full statement released by Yunho’s father.

The last schedule of the five members as TVXQ was ‘NHK 紅白歌合戦’ in Japan on December 31, 2009 and ‘Sponichi’, Japanese newspaper spotlighted TVXQ’s breakup the next day.
The article said that AVEX (TVXQ’s Japanese management company) admitted:
“they[all members of TVXQ] notified us[AVEX] in August 2008 that the all five would leave SM together, so we think they are still one at heart. There are possibilities that they might have new activities together in the future.”According to this, Yunho and Changmin had tried to leave SM with JYJ but changed their mind to stay at SM later.

Also the statement of Yunho’s father (released on November 1, 2009) was presented as another contrary evidence. It stated that “the greed toward cosmetic business is their[JYJ] reason to leave TVXQ and the three kept suggesting us to leave together since February, 2009.” Changmin’s father also wrote in the statement, “the three members filed an injunction only because of their financial benefit from cosmetic business.”
This statement has been presented for supporting evidence too.

A netizen (ID ‘buf***’) commented that “It is nonsense that Yunho, the former leader of TVXQ did not know about the lawsuit at all while everyone including fans, their parents, SM and AVEX knew about it.”

DC TVXQ Gallery also posted those evidence in Korean and English real-time, using their Anti-rumor Tactics & Monitory Division’s blogs and twitter.

Most people said in unison, “true neutrality can only be established when the two parties can both appear on the show fairly. JYJ also should be able to talk about their story on TV.”

Meanwhile, SM was ordered by the court not to interfere with JYJ’s entertainment activities and pay 20 million KRW for each interference it had made. However, JYJ are still having difficulties in making appearances on TV, including the latest cancellation of their real documentary program which was supposed to be aired on cable TV in February.

From DC TVXQ Gall:

Please note – for the people who claim that DC TVXQ Gall is “twisting their words,” understand that when you use the word “공백 (gong-baek)” in Korean, it just means a gap. Most of the celebrities use it to describe the gap they have between their entertainment activities (when they have no major appearances as a celebrity. You might be able explain away the shoots YH and CM did for a number of magazines, but appearing in a major network drama, highly-publicized musical and concerts most definitely does not qualify you as having a “공백 (gong-baek)” in your activities). In no way does it automatically imply that they were taking a break from being singers (unless only activities that you do as an entertainer is singing and music-related, but we all know that that’s not true in this case) – From DC TVXQ Gall’s comment

********************************

Hiatus, huh?

Is this some kind of a joke?? Let’s go over what Yunho and Changmin’s schedules were AFTER the lawsuit. BTW, in no way is this list a full completed schedules of Yunho and Changmin. They must have had more but we couldn’t find all of them. But this is what we have found so far. We’ve been gathering this information to explain the rumors about JYJ, that JYJ is the one hindering Yunho and Changmin’s activities by leaving SM.

Well, from the looks of the things, they have been pretty active in their entertainment career during that time. And is it really Jaejoong, Yuchun, or Junsu’s fault that the two members chose to focus more on their non-music related careers (such as modeling for magazines) more than their music careers? If people are saying that they have been kept away from resuming their activities as TVXQ because of the three members, JYJ are still on hiatus in that respect. Thankfully the man himself mentioned this on national Korean TV, so we decided to release this information although it’s yet to be completed.

Well, they did indeed make a lot of appearances on every possible media. It was just not a great success, but was it the other three’s fault??

Get a grip, the other three have nothing to do with Yunho & Changmin’s media appearances, because obviously they have not been able to make their own appearances on TV due to THEY-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED are blocking their activities!

What do you mean Yunho and Changmin had to take a break because of the three???!?!

June 2009 (Preparation for the trial) ~ November 23, 2010 (Announcement of TVXQ’s comeback)

This is [not-so] comprehensive list of Yunho and Changmin’s individual activities during those 17 months.

For magazine appearances, we only mention the ones in which they modeled or did an intervew (information magazines excluded). The dates for the magazine is not the date of shooting/interview but the date of issue.

Oh, and just for your information, Yunho and Changmin’s individual activities were announced and updated on Avex’s Tohoshinki Official Webpage AND via TohoMobile service for Bigeast.

To put it simply, anyone who believes that Yunho and Changmin were forced to stop their activities because they were waiting for TVXQ to reunite is a total idiot.
